Search@Home is our exciting new brand of support services to help your live in your own home for longer. We provide a helping hand for older people who are still living independently and require some support and assistance to manage their daily routines.
What does Search@Home offer?
Search@Home is our paid for service to support older people living in their own home.
Our fully screened, DBS checked home-helpers are always on hand with a friendly smile and lots of chat, so you can be confident that you can continue to manage day-to-day tasks, whilst still maintaining your dignity and independence.
Home Help
Our Home Help service includes support such as taking out the bins, dusting, hoovering, decluttering, washing and even feeding the cat or walking the dog. It covers all aspects of housekeeping to help you to live well in your home environment so that it remains clean, tidy and safe.
Our staff are trained and aware of the challenges that older people face and they offer that practical help and support to make life easier. We will take time to get to know how you like to keep your house and make it a happy place for you to live. This will free up valuable time and energy, so you can focus on doing the things you enjoy.Home Help+
Our Home Help+ Service provides support for you to access the community, make new friends, visit places of interest and do the things you enjoy, we can support you to your medical and health appointments, understand the advice given and guide you through the next steps. Or you may need someone to talk you through your correspondence and help you ensure that your bills and affairs are all in order.
Our Home Help+ staff are trained to be aware of certain health conditions that can affect people older people such as Dementia, Falls and Diabetes so we can match your needs with staff that understand your challenges and you can be assured you are in safe hands.Handy Help
Search@Home gives peace of mind
We aim to always provide the same home help person for all your domestic needs, so they become a professional you can rely upon. And because we are a responsible employer we’re confident our home helps will be helping you for as long as you wish them to.
Using our Home Help service can relieve family caregivers the pressure and worry associated with making sure an elderly loved one is safe and properly cared for once they begin to struggle with the usual tasks of running a home.
Additional domestic support also reduces stress for an older person who wishes to remain in the comfort of their own home, but needs a little extra help to enable this. Our proactive staff will look out for any issues and provide preventative support such as dates on food, trip hazards and general wellbeing whilst carrying out their usual duties.

Lunch Links
Our Lunch Links Service provides opportunities to socialise over Lunch with door to door transport and friendly staff there to support you.
Buy and Bite
Door to Transport to your local Morrison store, here our friendly staff and Volunteers will help you do your weekly shop, we have a reserved area in the café for a lunch with friends before we transport you home and support you to put your shopping away.
Bishops Court
Door to Door Transport from your home to the lovely relaxing lounge at Bishops Court, here you will be greeted with a welcome cuppa and a biscuit, we then offer a range of activities to get involved with before serving a 2 course traditional lunch. We have a weekly raffle and game of bingo. Bishops court offers a free book exchange and hairdressing facilities which you can use.
Home from Hospital
Search’s Home From Hospital service covers people living in the west of the city, and our partners cover the North and East of the city.
We will help you on discharge from hospital with our staff accompanying you on your journey home from hospital. We will ensure you have your medication collected from the pharmacy. We’ll also make sure you have your essential groceries and your gas and electric meters are charged if you are on a pre-payment meter and that you’re settled at home.
Once you are home we will match you with one of our volunteers who can call around for up to 6 weeks and ensure that you are settling in back home. They can get your groceries and help you with other tasks as you recuperate.
Our staff will stay in touch with you and introduce to other services that can help meet your needs.
Chain Reaction
Chain Reaction is commissioned by Newcastle City Council, Chain Reaction is a City wide offer for people aged over 55, Mental Health Concern provide the service in the North (Gosforth, Kenton, Fawdon), Key Ring provide the service in the East (Byker, Heaton, Walker) and Search are providers of Chain Reaction in the West of the City.
Chain Reaction Preventive – Short term support to link you back into your community for social opportunities, hobbies and friendship. This is typically 3 to 4 sessions with one of our “Pioneers” to create a plan with you, do the introductions and give you the confidence to go it alone. You can be referred by professionals working with you or you can refer yourself.
Chain Reaction Targeted Support – to access this you will need a referral by a social worker, it is for a specific piece of work to help your overcome a challenge or barrier which is preventing you living life to the full. One of our Targeted Support Workers will work with you for a time limited period giving you all the support you need to get back on track.

Referrals from organisations
Organisations can refer a person to Chain Reaction in the west of Newcastle by filling in a referral form and emailing it to: info@searchnewcastle.org.uk
If the person lives in the north or east of Newcastle email to info@chainreaction-newcastle.co.uk
