Senior Community Connector

We are looking for an experienced, well organised and highly motivated senior worker to assist our development manager in the operational duties necessary to provide a smooth running person centred service.

Chain Reaction is a new service commissioned by Newcastle City Council to combat social isolation and works with older people (55+) supporting them to live independently in the community.

We are seeking a well organised leader, who can work under pressure with a wide range of people. The senior community connector will contribute to Search achieving its growth aspirations for Chain Reaction and will support the development manager in day to day organisational tasks of running the service in a person centred way.

The successful candidate will develop a good overview of our service delivery systems and personal knowledge of the people supported by the Chain Reaction team to ensure each person is supported in the way that works best for them.

POST: Chain Reaction Senior Community Connector 20 hours per week
Salary: NJC Point 22 £20,661 p.a. pro rata based on a 37-hour week
Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays pro rata
Post holder reports to: Chain Reaction development manager

Lunch Club Cook  

POST: Lunch Club Cook at Bishops Court, West Denton off Slatyford lane

Hours: Thursdays 9.30am to 1.30pm (4 Hours)

Salary: £7.99p per hour (equivalent to £15,375 p.a. pro rata)

We are looking to recruit an experienced cook to prepare, cook and serve a hot two course lunch for up to 40 older people, every Thursday.

You will have experience of cooking for older people and of cooking for a large number of people at a time. You will also hold an appropriate qualification, for example NVQ level 2 in food preparation, and have experience of working in a busy kitchen environment.

Our lunch club is managed by our Lunch links organiser and supported by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. If you are interested in working for a local charity and becoming part of our friendly team, please get in touch.

Community Connector

 
We are looking to recruit several Community Connector bank workers to support the development of our new community service, Chain Reaction.

Chain Reaction promotes independence and increases the person’s sense of good emotional health and wellbeing. Community Connectors will work as part of a team providing a personalised and flexible community based service for older people (55+) in Newcastle. They will work with individuals and small groups to provide a real alternative to building based day services, supporting older people to access activities in the community that meet their individual needs, as well as supporting and sustaining links and friendship groups between those using the service.

We are looking for applicants that are able to work across the west of Newcastle, providing support to individuals and groups, for 2 to 4 hours at a time, once or several times a week, depending on the need. Hours may cover seven days per week from 8am to 8pm. There are no personal care tasks required in this role. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who loves working with people in their local community and enjoys a varied working week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hours: Flexible as needed
Salary: £8.38 per hour (£16,123 p.a. pro rata)
Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays calculated pro rata, in retrospect, every 6 months

Trustees needed

We have a really exciting opportunity for two new Trustees to join us in developing the next stages of the organisation’s work. You will be a joining a team of 7 Trustees who come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

We are keen to hear from people who have a business background and experience within financial and commercial sector.
