Search is now partnered with Unity Lottery and is offering a weekly lottery with a top prize of £25,000 per week plus other prizes. The idea is that Unity Lottery combines the prize money from hundreds of charities across the country but lets you specify which local charity benefits from your contribution. So if you pick Search we will take a proportion of the money and you will be entered into a large, nationwide lottery.

If you would like to find out more about helping Search through a lottery go to Unity Lottery http://www.unitylottery.co.uk/search Alternatively you can download a direct debit application form and print it out and send it by freepost.

After a public competition Search has won the title of Sainsbury's charity of the year for their Denton Burn branch close to where Search is based. We are very excited at the prospects of raising awarenes of the needs of older people in the west of Newcastle. It's going to be fun to be working in partnership with Sainsbury's to raise funds and support to change the lives older people. We are planning lots of events and activities to make the most of this great opportunity, stay tuned for more news.

Search has been nominated by our local Sainsbury’s in Denton Burn. We are in competition with two other charities to become their very prestigious ‘Charity of the Year’. Search is dependent on direct donations from the public to provide much needed support for lonely and disadvantaged, older people in the west of Newcastle. Winning the Sainsbury’s vote could really help the Margaret’s and John’s that need us.

What you can do is mosey over to www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk and then scroll down the page and
1. Write ‘Denton Burn’ into the box that says, “Search stores”,
2. Then click select under ‘Denton Burn Whickham view local’
3. FINALLY (honestly) Click vote under ‘Seach’

I know, I know, Sainsbury’s have spelt our name wrong but please click Vote ‘Seach’ and you will make the magic happen! Last year one chap said in passing while on the trip to Seahouses that he hadn't left the west of Newcastle for 20 years.

Following a very generation contribution from Lord Beecham we decided to produce a short 2 minute film to show people the work Search does and how we might be able to help. Lots of older people and their relatives aren't aware of the groups, advice and support available at Search on their own doorsteps. So we hit upon the idea of a video that shows Search through the eyes of someone passing our office on Adelaide Terrace and taking a look inside.

Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq4CaHcr73c and check it out for yourself. You might recognise some familiar faces.
